High-octane progressive bluegrass band Front Country are on tour in the UK for the next several weeks, having kicked off the run with a concert in Southport last night. Many of you will remember them from their well-received set at Didmarton in summer 2016. Originating in the Bay Area of California and former winners of the Rockygrass band competition, Front Country is now based in Nashville.
The band is fronted by gifted singer and songwriter Melody Walker, who won the IBMA Momentum Award (Vocalist) last year and who also plays rhythm guitar, clawhammer banjo and hand percussion. Front Country also includes Jacob Groopman (guitar/resonator guitar/vocals), Jeremy Darrow (double bass), Adam “Roscoe” Roszkiewicz (mandolin/vocals) and Leif Karlstrom (fiddle) – all supremely talented musicians who use traditional bluegrass instrumentation to great effect in highly original interpretations of songs bridging pop, rock, folk, blues and bluegrass.
