Gower Bluegrass Festival 2011

Postby Richie » Tue Sep 13, 2011 6:38 pm

This festival goes from strength to strength and is a credit to its founder Roland Emmanuel. I have not missed one yet and this last one was the best by far. Great to see some old faces returning and some new ones. Lots of bands old and new from the highly polished Down County Boys to the outrageously talented Flats and Sharps. The friendly atmosphere, the bands (less than a pound per band entry fee!), the jamming, the food and of course the beer make this my most anticipated weekend of the whole year. Well done Roland!!
Of course I have to say the best band went on first and finished the job on Sunday evening :D
Bluegrass has 3 chords C, G and ... the other one...!

The unsung heroes were there on Thursday setting the stage and sound system and never finished till late Sunday, well done all of you. I particularly like Dave's performance timing clock so bands know how much time is left before end of set. Great to meet old and new friends again

Agreed with all the comments. Nice little do is the Gower. Good to see a little more provision for picking in the guise of the marquee outside the centre. Great selection of bands too.

One thing that didn't work was the clock - Saturday ran over by an hour! The clocks should be well and truly concealed back stage and out of sight.
