It is a great pub Griffindude, maybe if i can get a session going you could make it.No problem for the plug Guy,i really believe the session helped me as previously i was playing the same old tunes on my own but when you put me on that stage it forced me to better myself and learn new tunes.I will try and make it this month, like i said been real busy summer, things are getting busier to,got a little bluegrass baby on the way since i last saw you,mrs said its going up for adoption if it comes out a hillbilly!we will see about that!hopefully got a fiddle player on the way! Will let you know about the Barton's mate, try and put Birmingham west mids on the bluegrass map instead of Birmingham mid west

hey that's good that you've got somewhere in mind. Thai food and beer sounds mighty fine too. I'd definitely be up for it so if u want any help sorting it out give us a shout. I was in hobgoblin the other day and looked at the ad's, saw one guy looking for someone to play bluegrass with so we've got at least one other person! two mandolins and a guitar - woohoo! Also I love the fact that on this forum you don't really know who you're talking to but the chances are that i've probably met half of the people on it at a festival somewhere!! i remember vaguely talking to guy in tom nechville's tent in newquay...thats about it!! hehe

lets get the ball rolling folks, it's about bloody time.

I have often thought this myself,i read postings particuarly regarding festivals and jams and i think i may well have been next to this person and shared a beer but do not know who they are,i will keep you posted on the bartons,i am sure they will be up for it,keep in touch and spread the word,we may just get something going, get yourself up there on Jan 6th(sunday) for the toy hearts and check the place out,i will most definately be there as my birthday is on the 8th and it will be a great afternoon to celebrate it with a bit of bluegrass.

cool beans. I'm not that hot on suitable venues in town but as soon as we found one i dedicate myself to the title of 'chief spread the word-er'. It's gonna happen folks...and i'm leaving Birmingham in July!!!

Without wanting to have this pick arranged round my life cos I don't live very close and may not come every time anyway, it would be good for me if it wasn't on Wednesdays (esp 1st of month) or 3rd Tuesdays. Or Thursdays. Or Fridays. Or weekends. It might help Paulos if other potential pickers indicated their preferences.

Hey, thurs or mon are fine. but let us know what he says. Im pretty sure there are plenty of shy bluegrassers out there in this big place, hiding away. We will find them. might be slow to start off with but i'll do what I can.

Popped up the bartons on sunday but the gaffer was in Ireland till today so explains why no answer to e mail, cannot go tonight as i am of to Bristol to see uncle earle!!!!If i cannot get there before i will go back on Sunday(good excuse for a couple of swift ones). My visit confirmed i want it in this pub if possible, with the high ceilings and victorian tiled walls the accoustics should be great!as i said if not at that venue i will go to digbeth(try the spotted dog)where they have plenty of irish sessions so i am sure they can accomodate some bluegrass, leave it with me milla, the grass will be blue in Brum soon!

Hi Paul

Great to hear some good news about your session. I hope it goes well for you. Try not to have it on the last Monday in the month or else you won't be able to get to Heather and I won't be able to come to yours. Hee hee.

Guy
You hum it son, I'll play it.
